“Girl you know it’s true…ooh, ooh, ooh, we FOOLED you.”

APRIL FOOLS! C’mon! You really thought we’d pay tribute to two dancers who couldn’t sing, couldn’t write a song, and had really bad fashion sense?

But, in all honesty, let’s give it up to Bill Pettaway, Jr, of Annapolis, who actually wrote & sang the hit song “Girl You Know It’s True.” Did you know he was a gas station attendant in Annapolis at the time the song was recorded and even while it was climbing the charts? The song went on to win a GRAMMY award in 1990, but the group was forced to return it after the hoax was discovered. But, don’t worry, because Bill went on to do bigger things. He wrote, produced, arranged & played with some of the industry’s biggest stars, including: Toni Braxton, Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and many more.

So, Bill, our hat is tipped to you today for the ultimate music industry prank.
